House Ep 4.10 and Torchwood Ep 2.1
Jan. 29th, 2008 09:31 pmIt was a bit odd to sit down in front of the TV tonight knowing that House would not be a rerun - I finally deprogrammed my DVR from recording ALL EPISODES since, if I didn't pay attention for a week or so, I would then have 10 House reruns to delete.
And John Barrowman said he'd love to play Jack until Year 5! Wheee!
Ah, a Christmas Episode in January. When I haven't had time to miss Christmas yet. At all.
PLUSES
Wilson with the reindeer hat.
The Fellow competition is really over. (Now if only THEY would believe it.)
Only a driveby glimpse of Cameron. If we're not getting Chase, we'd better not get her.
Prostitute/Mary might mean that any action House gets is OUTSIDE the hospital, which I have to think is better than Thirteen or Cam.
MINUSES
One Cuddy scene. There was one, right?
One real Chase scene. (Why is he friendly to Foreman? Why is anybody?)
I'm really unclear on the prostitute/Mary girl. Prostitute? Or Mary? Both? No idea.
Never was a Donna fan. Not feeling it with her character, and could do with a break on the HONESTY PLOTS. Think letting your eleven-year-old know about your sexual positions is ish. Think House ASKING an eleven-year-old about her mom's positions is even more ISH.

The Torchwood Premiere
I allowed myself to get way too spoiled on this one, watching all the clips and reading all the stuff before the ep actually aired. I'm managing to remain fairly spoiler free for the remaining ones, just overall plot info and the episode names. Spoilerlessness has always added to my enjoyment of House, and I think it will add to my enjoyment of Torchwood.
PLUSES
IT'S BACK, IT'S BACK, IT'S BACK!!!!!
Ahem.
Excellent humor, with the blowfish, "Bloody Torchwood", et al.
No excessive agita about Jack's absence. (The emo in me wants Jack to feel bad about bailing on Ianto at least, but the team had just killed him, and he had a right to find out about his immortality. I call it a wash.)
Asking Ianto on the date. John Barrowman was very cute with the nervous, as was Gareth David-Lloyd.
JM did not annoy me - I had expected that he would, as he was the reason I gave up on Buffy in Season 5, but I got more of a Season 2 Spike vibe off of John Hart, so it was good.
MINUSES
Do not want the hinted Tosh/Owen. She needs someone with more emotional maturity than a spoon.
Gwen saying yes to Rhys 'cause "no one else will have" her. They would, and have - own your own decisions, woman. You're making your gender look bad.
Gwen/Jack- I get the feeling they were told to play it ambiguous, and it didn't turn out that way. So it just looked illogical.
